Dr. Tekemia Dorsey is a business leadership expert with over 3 decades of experience in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. Best known for pioneering and piloting projects for which there exists no current model, Dr. Dorsey has earned a reputation for yielding great impact and providing positive and long-lasting results.
The phenomenal businesswoman has spearheaded various innovative and ground-breaking events of unparalleled significance. Dr. Tekemia Dorsey, in 2019, became the 1st African American elected to the USA Triathlon Board of Directors in its 45-year history. And was re-elected in 2021.
Due to work on the ground and in history, in 2021, she was appointed to the Tourism Commission of Baltimore County by County Executive John Olszewski. And is the 2021 Recipient of the “No Quitters Club” Honors through the University of Phoenix.
In addition to being a founding member of USA Triathlon’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access Advisory Council, Dr. Dorsey was nominated and selected as the 2020 Rings of Gold Award – Individual winner (the highest individual honour bestowed upon by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee).
Other awards include the 2020 USA Triathlon Women’s Committee Diversity & Inclusion Award, as well as joining IABT in 2017 as the first and only "Dual Award Winners" of the Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Garmin.
The multi-award-winning Dorsey is the founder and former CEO/Senior Consultant of The Creative GRP, LLC, now DTD’s Urban Multisport Consulting Firm. Under Dorsey’s leadership, The Creative GRP, LLC was the seven-time recipient of the Best of Baltimore Small Business Consulting Award, the 2016 Recipient of the USCA Best of Baltimore Training Award; and was inducted into The Best of Baltimore Business Hall of Fame.
In addition, Dr. Tekemia Dorsey is the founder of the International Association of Black Triathletes (IABT), a non-profit organization that she established in 2012 with the aim of improving the future of urban children. Since its launch, the IABT has helped over 10,000 children through various charitable activities and has also issued 2,000 full scholarships to kids for programming and services.
Dr. Tekemia Dorsey is also an award-winning author, international speaker, and radio/podcast show host.
